Talking My New Gray Tree Frog Vivarium Tank.......

Here is my new tank and some pics on how I made it. Be nice it’s my first time doing this.I think it is also a great fire belly toad tank, maybe my next pets. Possibly in the future i will do a tank vertical with a custom front door for my tree frogs, but for now this is way better than what they had. The tank is a 29gal. I picked it up with the stand and accessory's for $30.00 bucks, so i figured great time to start this project.

First get the bottom foam in. I used a tube with rocks in it to create the river bed, and then pushed it into the foam when it was curing on an angle downward for correct water flow. The sand you see was used were there was silicone for different textures. Also i used it on the glass. i think the foam attaches to the glass better that way.

Next I installed more Styrofoam and expanding foam to create the waterfall. All the tubing was hidden in the foam. It also has a filter and the pump for the waterfall built into the foam to hide it.All can be removed for cleaning.

More expanding foam, and more foam and more foam..........LOL......Try do do it in layers to create the effect you want.

Then I carved out all the foam and put this first layer of concrete on.

Many more coats of concrete. Sticks were added and cut to size to fit. Silicone was added to different areas and the gravel, sand, and earth was added and pressed into the silicone.

All the sides of the tank were taped off for the pattern of the foam and spray painted black.

Here you see the final product after a very long process. The tank was run with filtration for about 6 weeks to ensure all chemicals leached out and the water clarity was clear and safe for frogs to enter.

The waterfall with there own personal grotto.

Hope you enjoyed and got some good ideas for your tank. If you have any other questions on how to or materials just post and i will do my best to help.

I am very impressed by this. I find it hard to get up the will to do large jobs like this but you did it very well and documented it very nicely for the rest of us - thank you .

Wow! Thanks for inlcuding all the steps. How long, from start to finish, did this take you? I would like to do something similar for my Pacific Chorus frogs, except on a more vertical take. Congrats-it looks fantastic!

Visit Vivariums for ideas. You need good lighting to keep brooms and orchids. Vivariums is the ultimate vivarium site on the web in my opinion.

I have two frog lets that currently reside in a small plastic habitat...and I'm going to attempt to turn my 20 gallon Vivariums into a suitable environment for them.
