how do you give your crickets to your frog? i have moss in the tank and i am afraid they will hide in it and die and never get eaten. i tried a small dish about 2in deep and 2in wide but they have figured out how to jump out. should i just let them roam the terrarium? also do you dust with just calcium or do you do a multivitamin also?
thanks![]()
I use a shoe container, that I got at Wally World for $1.50 It's big enough for some small frogs, like FBT's. I drilled some holes in the top lid for air. But you might wanna try a bigger container to feed in.
I use both Calcium and Multivitamin.
Hi there, I agree with Scott. I think it was our Moderator Paul who says to use a glass dish that is deep enough to keep the crickets in but OK for the frogs to get in and out of. If you plant the dish in the moss then the Crickets that have not yet been eaten will eventually fall into it and then the frogs get to them.![]()
so even though they jump out and fall into the moss the frog will eventually dig em out to eat 'em?
They wont jump out of the glass bowl. Try this, dump 10 crickets in the enclosure. a few hours later bury the glass dish in the substrate. Very quickly most of the crickets will be trapped in the dish. Here is the original thread where we discussed it.

very informative! thanks paul!![]()
so i read the article and i put 5 crickets loose int he terrarium and 5 in the dish and sure enough there were 7 in the dish within 2 hours! and when i checked in the A.M there were only 3 in the dish and calcium on the glass and on Botanicus' (my green tree frog) legs so he went in and ate them from the bowl!! you guys are awesome thanks![]()
I wish I could do this for my pac man frog, when I feed him some super worms. I hate tong feeding him those things.
After reading the title of this thread, "how do you serve your crickets", my first reaction was: with a scoop of ice-cream!
Note added in proof: I have to confess - this was my 100th post, so I was inflating my post-count...
Ok, so I was about to post a similar thread when I figured other people probably had encountered the same issue, and I found this thread in a search.
My question is . . . do you think a small jar like this: http://www.manufacturer.com/cimages/..._regularly.jpg
. . . might work? At least for a few days until I can get something more suitable?
