Made me bring home a Red Eye tree Frog!
Brought home a new little friend today, a Red Eye Tree Frog. Poor little guy was all alone at Zoo Creatures so I just had to set something up for him.
It is an hour each way for me and after I saw him I grabbed a pile of supplies I headed home to setup a new enclosure. Once setup was complete and seeing that humidity and temps were up to par, I decided I couldn't wait until Saturday to bring him home. So, another hour down and another hour drive back to place him in his new home.
Made for a really great day.
I used the following items in the Red Eye's new home:
Exo-Terra Glass Terrarium (18X18X18) - definitely not inside height after I got done
18" Zoo Med Compact top with 40 watt Zoo Med Blue Day Bulb and a 40 watt Zoo Med Red Night bulb
Clay Balls bottom Layer which I didn't have a good understanding of so, instead of 2 inch, I have a 5 layer :-) I guess better drainage? I think it still looks pretty awesome.
Jungle Mix for the top layer
I sculpted a large drop into the back section and have added a water feature into the cork flat using a Zoo Med Waterfall Kit
Added a corner top off with some Coco Fiber in the highest section
Background is the foam stone back provided with the enclosure. Placed center in front of that is a cork flat which contains the water run off and left back is a tall cork round.
Added misc fake plants and vines, another smaller cork round, and finally a Flukers Vine twisted.
Hopefully he likes his new home.
Tell her I put a gun to a puppy's head!

If you get that picture, send it to my wife since I told her it happened again and she is starting not to believe me.
Ok, I will. I don't see why she doesn't believe you, John seems like one of those types that would shoot a puppy. I've been tempted to strangle a few lap dogs myself, who hasn't? By the way, that's a great setup, one of the best "thrown together" vivarium I've ever seen. I'm more of the modified sweater box people myself.
Yeah, I read John's comment seriously. I could see it.
But, congrats on the new frog, and your tank looks great. You'll probably need a way to compromise with your wife, because you'll want a lot more. My boyfriend does not want frogs, but he wants cats, so I guess I'll never again have a houseful of dogs.![]()
