Hey everyone! Been a while since I've been on, but I thought I better get back into the swing of things. I have been trying to not fuss over some of my frogs and toads and decided to take a step back and feed, change water, mist but otherwise leave alone. I did that for a couple of months with my American Bullfrog and decided to check on her last night. To my surprise, she is absolutely thriving and much bigger than I expected! Still pretty sure it's a girl, but I had to share some pics of her. I cannot believe the size of her mouth-I upgraded her to bigger size crickets and will now work on fattening her up!
Question: if I were to throw some earthworms into the moss, do you think she would be able to get to them before they died and started decaying?
Still looks like a female Jo.
As for the big mouth, this is typical for females of all species, particularly H.sapiens.![]()
Paul, I have a really great response to that, but this is a friendly, clean minding Forum (except for Kurt...and you!), so I will keep it to myself!![]()
I thought she was a she, so that is okay by me. Now I just want to fatten her up a bit, but she won't eat when I take her out, so I might just toss some worms in there and see what happens. Worse comes to worse, I will need to do a tank clean!
I don't really see why she won't eat the worms. When I got my albino American Bull Frog, that little guy was chomping down on any food I offered him. So I don't see how it should be a problem with her.
Thanks Scott. Poe is so skittish that her main focus is to get away whenever someone or something goes near her tank. However, she had no problems downing three 4 week old crickets, so I think she could use the extra protein burst found in a yummy worm. I will try one or two with her tonight.![]()
