    Default Ceratophrys Stolzmannis are here!!

They arrived this morning from Understory and they are an inch and a half. As soon as I put them into their new homes they immediately buried themselves so I didn't get a chance to take pictures. I decided to put the heatmats on the sides of the tanks because I didn't want to risk any problems. I also did put the cork board on the back wall but didn't recess it in case the crickets run up the wall as suggested. It can easily be lifted out if its a problem... I'll know real soon. They are 3 months old and are very cute. My first Pacman frogs....and I always thought of myself as a tree frog person... go figure! Now I can see for myself what all the hubub is about. I have some full size crickets and will put a couple in each tank tonight to see if they'll go for them. I'm looking for names if anyone has any suggestions. They are both green.

Okay here are some pictures. One just came out took a stroll around and went back to his dirt. Oops... that last picture would of a car we're working on at our shop...don't ask me how that got there. Told you I wasn't computer savy. I can't figure out how to get rid of it now.

I'm so giddy...new frogs are like Christmas morning... you just want to show everyone your new toys. I put two crickets and one small wax worm into each tank. They both immediately sprang to action and chased down a cricket. Skippy (that's his name) gobbled up the worm. In the other tank, Lucky's second cricket dragged off his worm. Apparently crickets eat worms...who would have guessed? Lucky is on the hunt so I'm sure that cricket wont survive until morning. One thing I never really knew about Pacman frogs is how quick they hop around...almost like little rabbits. Compared to the red eyes who walk slowly from branch to branch...these guys spring 4-5 inches with each leap and are super fast. It was good to see them both up tonight checking out their new surroundings. I wish I can watch them more but I really want them to settle in on their own first. Did I say how thrilled I was to see that they eat? Yeah!!!

Congratulations. It is a beautiful frog.
Thinking that its habitat is difficult to find.
And since few individuals today are in the pet trade.
Good luck with it. Welcome to CeratoprhysMania jaja.

I fed them again tonight. They each ate two more full size crickets and a wax worm. How often should I feed them? I don't want to over feed them but they can sure PAC it away. They are babies...should I feed them everyday or skip a day? They definately get their water bowl very dirty. I change it in the morning when I get up and again when I get home at night. The cork background hasn't been a factor yet with the crickets because Lucky and Skippy gobble them up so quickly so it will be sticking around for now. Maybe because these guys are young and spry that they are so active. Now I can't say what they're doing all day when I'm at work but at night they are moving around a lot more than I expected. Maybe when they settle in and fatten up they become non moving blobs?

While they are little every day is fine. When you see them starting to look like they are staying full then you may want to skip a day here and there. But for now daily is good. Calcium with d...do not do that everyday. About every other feeding or so.

Never own a pacman before my guy chomper. But so far he doesn't do much except sleep and once a while eat a couple night crawlers. So I guess your right about the age and turning into fat blobs, lol. But yeah even when they are bigger they can jump. My guy takes a couple hopes, from one end to the other for food. I was shock though. I thought big frog like them can't jump that far. He does about 8-11 inches in one hop.

Congrats on your new little guys, they look awesome.
