Okay, so don't put the heatmat under the tank? Why do they call them undertank heatmat if they shouldn't be actually under the tank? Just wondering... I was thinking under the tank would help to keep the soil and the water in the water dish warm. I was only doing a false bottom so I could recess the tray of soil and the water bowl. I am also going to make a terrace part for the plants to try to keep them out of reach a little bit. I am kind of a clean freak and I know that because they burrow they will drag a lot of soil with them as them come out and go over to the water dish. I've got a wisper vac that I could use to suck up soil off the sheet moss and then change out the water each day and it will hopefully stay prestine. Or is that wishfull thinking?I'll let you know how that goes. So you think it would be best to put the heat mat on the side of the tank? But I have my cork board on 3 sides and I don't think the heat will go through it. Any other suggestions?
