    Default Determining frog's age

It just occured to me that I don't have a clue how old Dumper (WTF) is. I'm sure he's a juvenile as he's just 2 1/2 inches from snout to vent. He was 2" when I got him in late June.

    Any round-about educated guesses?

Well, if you cut a leg off and count the rings.... Just kidding. I have no idea, as there are so many factors involved in the rate of growth in amphibians.

Actually it's chop the end of a toe and get a powerful light microscope and count the rings (though if it's a wild animal or it has gone through cool periods, ring counting isn't very accurate). But we wouldn't do that to our pets so I would just guess Dumper is under 6 months old.

Depends on how much and well you feed him.

According to the field guide you are correct. The Columbia spotted frog, Rana luteiventris is not found in Colorado. It is found in the Pacific Northwest.
