I've noticed on many occasions some fluid that comes out of both ends when I grab them with tongs, but I have never noticed a smell associated with it. In fact, my colony hardly smells at all. But you are right, my frog, and non of my other animals that eat roaches, seem to mind at all.
i thought my dubias stunk, that was before i got my lobster colony. The worst of the one's I've kept though were turkistan roaches AKA rusty reds.
