Anybody on here feeding lobster roaches to their ABF? I purchased a small colony of dubias earlier this month (12.12 + 250 mixed nymphs) and have only been feeding off males to my GAFB. I haven't been producing enough yet and decided to purchase 1,000 lobsters to feed while I build up my dubia collection. From now on I'll count out adult dubias once a month and feed off surplus males with lobsters used after the male dubias are depleted.

I feed my frog a staple of lobster roaches (and nightcrawlers). I use them because I had access to a free starter colony. They are really easy to keep, and breed really fast in the warmer temps of the South-east US. The large adults have wings that aren't digestible, but the bodies are plenty plump with minimal exoskeleton (compared to crickets, mealworms, etc). Happy feeding!
My GABF was plenty happy with them took 16 adults today![]()
They produce horrible defensive smell but frogs don't seem to mind at all.
I've noticed on many occasions some fluid that comes out of both ends when I grab them with tongs, but I have never noticed a smell associated with it. In fact, my colony hardly smells at all. But you are right, my frog, and non of my other animals that eat roaches, seem to mind at all.
i thought my dubias stunk, that was before i got my lobster colony. The worst of the one's I've kept though were turkistan roaches AKA rusty reds.
