Hey all,
I have really been fighting with getting my setup right.
My enclosure is/was completely enclosed so I was having heating issues and added a screen shown below which did reduce my temp to the desired 80 daytime I wanted and 70 nights.
Now I can't get the humidity to stay up. I'm drifting around 45 - 50 now and I'm sure its due to the dry heat in my home.
I am at a loss and my last thoughts are to either add a fogger but not sure where to pipe it in to in the setup... at the light, high up and mid level?
Both my high and low placed thermometers read 80 degrees but the substrate feels cold. I have a heat mat on under the enclosure but an sure the heat is not rising through the substrate.
So, do I add a fogger? I have misted probably 10 times today and it does a quick rise and then right back to 50 percent.
If I add a fogger where wold you put it to get the best results?
See pics below for my setup and please give any suggestions since I'm not sure where to go from here.
Note: I moved the screen to the left and reduced open area to try and cut off the amount of dry air entering the unit.
Update, Its been 1 hour since I changed the screen to the left side and humidity rose to 65 percent so I'm feeling a little better for my Whites Tree Frogs. If it stays at 65 I would be happy and be even happier if it got to 70 and lingered there.
Still thinking about a fogger and humidity controller like the one from Zoo Med.
It has now been four hours and it seems to be holding at 70 percent after moving the screen.
Lesson learned... don't monitor the humidity at the ventilation side. I'm sure my Whites are doing well since all are hunting, being vocal, and enjoying the three water spots that are provided.
I'm still thinking on the fogger since I plan to set up another viv and not sure if its doing to be darts or a pair of Red Eye Tree Frogs. This morning I'm heading out for a 18x18x18 enclosure and the bottom layers of substrate.
