Thread: My frog won't go to the bathroom?

Default My frog won't go to the bathroom?

My green tree frog doesn't go to the bathroom anymore, even days after eating. I notice that she'll hang on the glass upside down and looks like she's in discomfort. When I see her doing that, I give her a 20 minute water bath in her mini carrying tank and she usually will do her business in there. can someone shed some light on this for me please?

heating/lighting/humidity are in the proper ranges and haven't changed. Her appetite has decreased significantly since the summertime.

    thanks

    How long has it been?

Is it possible that she's ingested some substrate? If so, she may be impacted.

This has been going on for weeks now. She just went last night because i took her out and put her in a water bath, she won't go anymore without me doing this.

Her substrate is plantation soil 1/3 covered with fluker's moss

Does she spend any time in her water dish in the enclosure?

What are you feeding her? Have you changed her diet in any way?
When I started feeding mine adult crickets, from juv ones, they would go and soak in their pool and get the hiccups! So when they went in their I put some warm water in there too for a lil help. Since they are still froglets (Gray Tree Froglets) I went back to the juv crickets thinking their exoskeletons maybe too hard for them as juv. frogs, it seems to have helped except for my big female who has a bottomless stomach and seem to get indigestion a lot!
Sorry it's all haveto offer will my skills. Best of luck and hopefully someone with more experience will help you with the rest of your ?

Oh, you may want to get a fecal culture, it's possible that there are parasites, etc. You may want to consider taking her to a vet before it's too late to help or she's too ill for treatment if it is.

Sorry I keep thinking of more info.....Was she wild caught or captive breed? Where did you get her and for how long have you had her? This will help if someone else reads this, the more info the better. Do you have any pics of her since she's been ill? Post them or take a few now.
