Hello, I'm a newbie and I have a question here.
The fruit flies bait that I have put accidentally drawn unnecessary attention to the ants. Its the black ants that usually go for sugar in your house~ now I am somewhat quite certain that these don't deliver any bite. I was just wandering whether my P. leucomystax and R. dulitensis can take them? Or should I remove the fruit and clean the tank up for fear of the ants being detrimental to my frog health?
Thanks for reading,
Milo.
Why not just culture fruit flies?
I had orderedfruit flies from Josh's frogs that ahd gotten lost in transit. I contacted them and they advised me to catch ants to feed the frogletsuntil they located my fruit flies. He said, Josh, that they are safe to feed the froglets and can be put into the tank with them.
I beleive you can order the friut flies online at several websites that may deliver to you. There is a toll free number and a contact us section at Joshsfrogs.com. This is where I get mine from. There are 2 kinds of cultures I get, 1 are newly started that produce in a few weeks and then ones that are producing, there is only a $3.00 US dollar difference between the 2. Hope this helps. In the mean time the ants, I have been told, are fine to feed them.
You may be able to order cultures of some flies internationally, because those flies are found throughout the world (Drosophila melanogaster). Check your local laws.
