Hi!Glad to join this forum!I recently purchased a White's Tree Frog for my 6 year old son.Don't cringe,Dad is fully responsible for Kermits well being.I did all my research before we went out in search for the little guy.As far as I can tell from what I have read he is a male. Our setup is an Exoterra 12"x12"x18" rainforest terrarium, coco fiber substrate, lots of artificial plants and vines, and a nice tall resin log formation with a cave in the botttom. He seems to be doing fantastic! The only thing that perplexed me was that all of a sudden today he began puffing up,doing stomach and mouth exercises which led to some kind of shedding. He cleaned himself with his feet and also ingested some of the secretion. Is this a normal behavior?I read that White's can create their own mucus barrier when moisture is lacking in the wild. Our tank has a 50-70 percent humidity level and an even temp of 75 with a 80 degree hot spot under a moonglow nocturnal lamp.Want to make sure this shedding thing is normal?Any ideas?
Welcome aboard.
Shedding is normal as are all the motions that you describe. I normally increase the humidity a bit when they are shedding to help them.
