So its summer and summer vacation. I like to herp just for fun and to view the reptiles and amphibians around my area. I have 2 african clawed frogs and 3 fire bell toads. I was herping yesterday to find a southern toad, But he was very injured, He last both his legs and one of his arms were completley gone, and his other arm he had no foot, the injuries were maby 1 day old it was sad because he couldnt move. I did not want him to suffer so I took a 10 gallon tank that my ACF Frogs use to have and filed it with about 2 inches of eco earth, a water bowl, and a hide, also a 10 gallon tank regular light for fish. He is ok. But if I give him food from tweezers or anything he wont eat. so e hill eventualy eat? I have to hand feed because he cant move, and how can he go in the water bowl? Will he eventualy crawl?![]()
I don't know if he can survive such terrible injuries all at once. Wild toads rarely take food from forceps right away. I would put a few crickets in with him - he will probably be able to tale a couple as they walk by.
