How old are they? Its amazing how fast they grow when they are young. I wouldn't be worried about the ones explosive growth. If they are all being fed the same, (not over fed) and one is really taking off, I'd just get excited! The same thing happened with our big batch. The majority of them are growing close to the same rate, but there are a few who are little monsters!! And I do believe the females grow at a slower rate than the males. They tend to be feisty eaters, but that somehow doesn't reflect on their growth as much as it does for the males. That's just my opinion after observing these guys for the last three months. All of the ones we believe to be female are smaller than the average male. But it just depends on how old they are. You can get an almost certain idea of their sex at around 4in.
