We set-up a new terrarium three days ago. The humidity is 90+. Today I noticed a spider web like fungis growing about an inch high is some spots. (see attached photos) I have not put my dart frongs in yet and would like to know what is growth is before I do. My layers are clay balls, screen, mix of eco earth, sphagnum moss and forest moss, and a thin layer of forest moss to keep the tank cleaner.
Thanks for the help. - Robin
First of all, that's a great looking setup.
Because Dart Frogs require high heat and humidity we end up with all kinds of things growing in our enclosures. It's not usually something to worry about. Mosses, molds, mushrooms all other sorts of fungi will come and go. I love that my Dart tanks are dynamic and I never know what I will find in them.
Thanks Paul.
I ran into the same problem as the above post. An your reassurance took alot of stress didn't kno what was goin on ....thanks
As long as the frogs don't mind, a little air circulation will reduce the chances of mould and fungus like this. In my current build I plan to add a small computer fan on a low speed inside the light hood.
