Question White's Tree frog setup -- mom needs your help

My son currently has a White's Tree frog in an Exo Terra 12x12x18 glass terranium. His Christmas list in entirely made up of a new terranium and all of the supplies to go with it. He wants to get another frog and 24x18x24 tank, the stand for it to go on, a fogger, flow pump, dual top light (PT2232), compact top (PT2227) etc. Wow, we are talking $$$$$$$$. I would so appreciate any advice on what is a need and what is a wish. I'm hoping between Santa and relatives we can get a complete setup that will make my son and his frogs happy. Thanks so much for your help!

First off I want to say what a super cool mom you are. That's so cool that you would take the time to research on a frog forum like you're doing to make sure you are getting the best gift. Often people who go out and buy their own aren't even as educated and purchase the wrong things. Since he wants to go with an additional frog I would go with the PT2612 (24X18X24). This is a taller tank than the PT2610 and with White's tree frogs getting as big as they do they would definately appreciate the extra height. The PT2612 should only be another $25 bucks so it is well worth it. As far as the lighting goes the PT2232 (flourescent design) is better but it is also 3X the cost. I personally would go with the PT2227 which is the two bulb design and should be around $50. I have that type of design on my Exo Terra and it is more than adequate for live plants. The top of the tank is big enough to have two light fixtures on top but that is really overkill and might create too much heat or block off ventilation. The fogger I would put on a wish list. I have one for my tank but it is really not needed unless you live in a super dry climate and hand misting in the tank in the morning and at night is not enough to keep the humidity where he wants it. The flow pump I would also put on a wish list. He probably wants to make a water fall or something like that but again it is not absolutely necessary. I personally wouldn't purchase the Exo Terra stand. I think they are too expensive and there are much cheaper alternatives. One thing I would definately suggest is that when you get another frog keep them in separate tanks for 30 days. That will make sure if the new frog is sick he doesn't infect the original frog. Also purchase a frog from reputable breeder like Josh's Frogs that breeds captive bred frogs so you won't end up with a wild caught frog that could come with parasites or diseases. Nothing would ruin your Christmas present more than having to deal with sick frogs or frogs that refuse to eat and shrival up and die. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
