I've been looking at these at Understory Enterprises because they stay really small. I don't really want to spend a 100 bucks on this type of frog. Is there a similar species that would stay less than two inches at adulthood? I would like to get a pacman but only if it will stay small.
None that are in the pet trade.
Stolzmanni is a rare species in captivity $100 seems cheap for such a rare frog.
From what I hear though, this rare species won't be so rare in the future.
Nice colors but personally would like them more if they obtain larger adult size.
Rather have an aurita, or a cornuta even.
I actually like them because of their small size.
Okay I know you guys on this forum like big frogs for reasons that we can discuss later, but I've got two of these little boogers coming. They will be here Dec 1st. That gives me three weeks to get a home set up for them. I know I have to keep them separated and they're not big so the tank doesn't have to be huge, but I am not one for simple dirt setups. Has anyone done more elaborate setups for their pacman frogs? I'm talking backgrounds, plants, waterfalls, ponds, etc.
I did a greatstuff background for one. Seemed like a great idea until I watched the crickets run up the wall and just hang out. As far as plants, made a few "pots" out of great stuff and covered them in eco earth so they can't wreck them like the pothos we had in there Haven't planted anything yet though. I wouldn't mind doing something a little more elaborate in the future.
I actually found this on youtube yesterday. It looks nice, but it doesn't look like the frogs can burrow in whatever they are sitting in.

Well I thought my book would have more info on it than it does, it is an old book though.
All it says is that it's a small species that hails from Peru and Ecuador.
I'd just like to say it's not about the size of the frog for me.
@ Cheri: Congrads on the new addition, just post pictures to show how big they really are. As far as water falls and plants goes, I didn't have nth in there because my pacmans' digging pattern is pretty unpredictable.
So what kind of soil do you think regular pottng or coco fibre and how often should you change it out? Springtails okay to use? Or no.
I spot clean eco earth and change it once a month. So far they seem to be doing well. I havent done springtails though. Thought about it.
Wouldn't isopods be better for cleaning up poo than springtails?
I used to think that I had to understand in order to believe, then I realized that I must believe in order to understand - Augustine
Isopods work too
