Im a big fan of side of the tank heatpad. Or you can use a 60 watt red heat. Just make sure you mist the tank. They love heat it helps them eat and poop big time.

I would use a light for supplemental heat. A heat pad on both sides isn't a good idea. It doesn't allow them to thermoregulate.
My personal preference is using a heat mat under one end on the tank. My advice would be to make a tank cover that has few holes in the top, this will not only keep the humidity up, it will keep the heat in. My tanks stay about 85 degrees Fahrenheit no matter what time of year it is.
