I stopped by the local pet shop just the other day. As I walked in I noticed a tank filled with various frogs, even ones that should not be mixed together. The tank was completely dry with not a drop of water to be seen. There were firebelly toads that had dried out and died, one of which had a hole completely through his body. I seen two dumpy frogs so dry and skinny that you could see every bone in their body. In the middle of the tank was a red eye tree frog who was dark green. It looked a if he was on the verge of death himself. I asked the guy there to put water in the tank. He only misted the frogs. When I asked him how much the red eye tree frog was he replied 59.99. I told him that these frogs are going to die if something isn't done soon. He told me to come back later when the owner of the store was going to be there. I came in that night. Apparently she had been on vacation for the week. He was watching the store for her. When I explained what had happened she was pissed. I asked her could I have a discount. She then sold me all three frog, the two dumpy frogs and the red eye, for $40. They are all doing much much better and are on a slow road to recovery. I'm just glad I got to them in time. Any advise on what I should be doing to further help these beautiful creatures?
Oh..that is terrible and unfortunately not uncommon from what I hear. At least these frogs have a good chance now that you have them. You should look at the care articles on the left. They may be too stressed to eat but give them some food anyway. Good luck![]()
You might want to soak them in unflavored Pedilyte. That could help a lot.
