I want to congratulate you for this forum it is very good and start by apologizing for my bad English.

I recently became interested in frogs especially Dendrobates genus, I've been reading everything i can find about the subject since i want to be as best prepared as possible before i take the big step.

I will leave my questions here:

1- I've never had a frog before, may i start with a Dendrobates or should i try start with something more easy? (In a Portuguese forum about amphibians they say that Dendrobates aren't for beginners but i really like them)

2- I can't find any place that sells frogs near my residence area, is it safe to order frogs by mail? They are quite expensive and i don't want to waste my money and the poor things lives.

Unfortunately, I don't know very much about the species you are inquiring about-other than they are a beautiful group of frogs. However, there are many other members on the Forum who have experience and are more than willing to share. Thank you for joining and best of luck as a future frog owner!

Poison Dart Frogs are fine to start with if you do a little research. D.auratus, D.leucomelas, even D.tinctorius are great for beginners. Quite a few members here keep PDF's and are more than happy to help you. Shipping frogs is relatively safe, I have never had a bad experience with PDF's shipped to me.
