Found one of our whites just now with its left fore arm swolen like popye. I put him in another tank and his hand kind of curled up and there is a little bit of blood on top of it. I suspect it got it caught in the lid trying to escape(they have done this before, we have weight on top, but maybe it managed to move it). What can I do?
Make sure the arm and the new environment are clean. Apply an anti-septic to the arm (like polysporin) and call your vet. A swollen wound can mean infection. Good luck!
How is he?
Just a additional note: Make sure the anitbiotic oitment doesn't have a numbing agent in it, like lidocaine. Many of the new triple or regular antibacterial ointments now come with a "pain reliever" in it and can be deadly to frogs. Make sure you read the ingredients thoroughly.
Hope your frog is OK, let us know please.
I checked this thread again today to see how your frog was doing, any changes or news?
We did treat it, and put him in an individual container. His hand looks really bad. Curled up and he doesnt open it. I cant really tell if the swelling has gone down at all. I dont know if the lid could have done this to him, but they will push up and try to escape. We were thinking maybe he got bit by a cricket and got infected? I dont know if that sounds ridiculous or not. I know crickets can be nasty.
