I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and their well wishes for Elton the Green Treefrog. Though we are pretty sure he did eat some crickets and appeared to be perking up, he took a turn for the worse and did not make it.I still don't completely understand how he lasted for a year in the petstore, and how Rongo is thriving in the new setup and he didn't, but I would not change what I have learned from Elton in this short time for anything. Paul-thank you.

Awwwwwww..... so sorry Jo-Anna. We just lost our huge female green cornuta this morning as well so we feel your pain![]()
Sorry for your loss![]()
Oh no, Jo-Anna!
I'm soooo sorry. Little Elton captured our hearts as well. I'm sure Rongo will miss his little buddy. I hope all is well with Rongo.
*Hugs* to you!

Jo, your welcome although it wasn't what you may have hoped I would say. I'm sorry it had to go this way but it was the responsible decision. You have done very well with all your animals, these things happen.![]()
Oh Jace..Im so sorry about Elton. Unfortunately this comes with having pets and I know its never easy. Don't let this deter you Jace. You are a great frog keeper.![]()
Sorry about your loss.
My fantasy pacman just passed away as well.
Thanks everyone. Rongo is doing fine, thankfully. I hope that continues as I'm rather attached to them...now just him.
Jeff and Eel Noob, I am so sorry to hear about your own losses.![]()
So sorry to hear about Elton. At least he was able to live the end of his life with you being spoiled and loved!!!
Thanks, Julia. He was pretty special-and sure loved his mistings! Just wish I realized what was happening sooner and maybe I could have done something so that he recovered. However, hindsight is always 20/20. Rongo is going to get fussed over for the next little while, that's for sure!
Sorry for your loss Jo-Anna. Julia is right, Elton spent his last days with you and probably the best of his life.
Jeff and Eel noob, I am so sorry to hear of your losses as well.
Its so hard to know when something is wrong with reptiles and amphibians. They hide all signs of illness because showing weakness in the wild would make them easy prey. Unfortunately it makes it much harder for us keepers because by the time they show signs of illness its usually too late.
I thought he was looking a little skinny, but I did see him going after crickets. It never occured to me that maybe Rongo was getting them first or keeping him from them. It wasn't until the night before I put him in quarantine that I realized their might be a bullying problem going on. By that point, it was too little too late. Elton ate while in isolation, but he didn't have the energy to digest anything. I felt so bad. It was definitely a lesson learned on my part.
It's definitely one of the down sides of having pets. However, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I was woken up this morning (before my alarm clock!!) by first Rongo calling and then Yoki...and then another small Pacific Chorus frog calling along side Yoki. It puts a smile on my face no matter what kind of day I am having. Though hot doggie breath in my face first thing in the morning I could live without!!![]()
