Its so hard to know when something is wrong with reptiles and amphibians. They hide all signs of illness because showing weakness in the wild would make them easy prey. Unfortunately it makes it much harder for us keepers because by the time they show signs of illness its usually too late.

I thought he was looking a little skinny, but I did see him going after crickets. It never occured to me that maybe Rongo was getting them first or keeping him from them. It wasn't until the night before I put him in quarantine that I realized their might be a bullying problem going on. By that point, it was too little too late. Elton ate while in isolation, but he didn't have the energy to digest anything. I felt so bad. It was definitely a lesson learned on my part.

It's the same situation with rabbits, you may have a feeling something is off, but by thee time you are sure there sick it's usuallytoo late, sadly,

It's definitely one of the down sides of having pets. However, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I was woken up this morning (before my alarm clock!!) by first Rongo calling and then Yoki...and then another small Pacific Chorus frog calling along side Yoki. It puts a smile on my face no matter what kind of day I am having. Though hot doggie breath in my face first thing in the morning I could live without!!
