Exclamation New to the azureus dart frog world

Hi, I am new to the forum and dart frogs. I recently got a baby azureus dart frog who currently lives in a ten gallon set up, I am thinking about adding another frog in the future. I have heard you have to have the same species in the tank? Also what combinations work best as far as the sex of the frog goes? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum Adriana. You are correct, you should only keep the same species (actually the same race within species, to be exact). Azureus are a subspecies of Dendrobates tinctorius, and in that species you are best to keep a single male and female pair, or 2 males with 1 female at the most, though the latter is a little riskier than a single pair.

Welcome to the Forum. It's good to have you.

John's right. Also, a ten gallon tank is a bit small for a pair of adult azureus.

Bigger is always better but I must admit I keep and breed my pairs in 10 gallon tanks without issue.
