I never realized frogs could be an addiction.Ack!!!!
Btw can I REALLY fit 5 frogs in a 33 gallon safely? That seems like a lot to put in one aquarium.![]()
My rule of thumb is always to give as much space for them as I can afford to. I say don't overcrowd. They'll be much more active if they feel they have space to move around in.
They are edible they are soooooo cute! (don't worry I would never eat one or even hurt one for that matter!!) I just can't get enough of these guy's, even my mother really likes them!
As for an addiction...we'll be going to the same frogaholics anonymous meetings!!LOL
I have 13 Gray Tree froglets, 5 cats(2 are step dads), 3 dogs(2 are Mom and Dads- they moved in with me after their house burned down and mom had 4 heart attacks) and 9 rabbits(all mine)I may be attending Rabbiholics Anonymous too!LOL
For the moment, I have 10 Gray Tree froglets also in a 33 gal flat back octagon, but they are very small still. 5 are slightly over and inch and 5 are about an inch, but all are chubby, chubby, chubby, just the way I like em! I was told that 5 in a 33 gallon was ok for Gray Tree frogs, but they are significantly smaller than the White's, at least the males are anyway. The females can get as large as a small White's TF, so you may want to consider another larger tank for all 5 or another tank for half.
Luckily I was given another large tank, but I am not sure of the gallon amount, I could guess at about 35-40 gal. I will move 5 into that one (the 5 smaller ones) when they get larger or their behavior changes, but for now they seem fine and jump around quite a bit.
I have 3 very small froglets, around 1/2 inch, in a 2 or 3 gal octagon and those I am concerned about. I do know someone in the area who will give me (2) 10 gallon tanks, 1 for the 3 tiny ones and the other for either the crickets or a decontamination tank. Before he had offered me the tanks and my other friend brought me the 35-40? gallon tank I checked online stores for prices and nearly hit the floor at how expensive they are. I am on disability and have limited income, so I checked Craig's list and just in my ,in the middle of nowhere area, there were a lot of people selling a variety of tanks. They ranged from 5-10 gallon to very large 200+ gallon, mostly fish tanks and a few terrariums, some with the stands for very reasonable prices. It may be worth looking into.
Best of luck and your froggies are adorable.
Just my opinion, but I think 5 adult WTF should be housed in at least a 55 gallon. They are very active at night, and all need their own area to hunt crickets. Beautiful new frogs btw!![]()
Congrats and they are gorgeous!!I agree with Julia-if you can afford to give them more space when they are grown, then they would really enjoy that. And addiction I don't think even begins to describe it!

And, thankfully, you'll soon have a 33 gallon tank free for new frogs.![]()
Oh man so jealous, where did you get the blue phases from?
They do look very awesome, If you get a WTF thats brown can they eventually turn green out of curiosty? I've heard they can change colors.
Yes. Often mine start out brown and then turn green. I'm told it is based on their mood.
As for where I got them, I went to the New England Reptile Expo http://www.reptileexpo.com/nefirst.htm last Saturday.
The vendor who gave them to me was Harris in Wonderland. http://www.harrisinwonderland.com/av...lamphibs.shtml
The website said they only had 1 blue-phase in stock but when I got there they had two.![]()
