Default Worst Birthday Ever - RIP Igby : (

Today has been an awful, awful birthday for me. After trying so hard to save Igby, I found her dead this morning. It would of been her 9th day of the Chytrid treatment, and 14th day of Baytril. I called the vet and I'm going to drive her up tomorrow (don't want to spend four hours on my birthday driving my poor dead Igby up to the vets) to get a necropsy done to find out once and for all what is going on. Poor little Quibble, all alone now.

I am so sorry to hear about Igby! What a horrible way to start your morning, especially on your birthday.. Hugs to you and I hope your day gets better.

For what it's worth, happy birthday.

Oh NO! R.I.P. Igby : .( I am so sorry and on your birthday too! Happy Belated Birthday I am sure you have had better. My father and grandfather both died a few days after my birthday too and it took many years, I won't say how many though, to not associate their deaths with my birthday. Oh well my age is posted, so it's been 20 years, that hurt..I hate being 40.
I am so surprised, I knew she was ill with the same illness Kibbits had, but I thought she was getting better or at least not getting any worse. The last post I read you said she hadn't been eating again, Had that continued? Has been there any news from the Vet? I am wondering if the Chytrid wasn't the only problem, many times when a human/animal has any illness the immune system takes a beating, leaving the body susceptible to other fungus, bacteria, virus etc. and it's the 2nd disease that goes unnoticed and there for untreated. From what you've been saying this Chytrid seems to be a real problem and very deadly.
I am ssssooooooooooooo sorry for your loss and hope you find a companion for your lonely baby, Quibble.
*Note: I have not been feeling very well for the last few days so please forgive my punctuation, grammar and spelling, the brain is not fuctioning and this pain has me distracted, time for some heavy narcotics!!!LOL

Thank you for all the well wishes. As you can tell, I stayed away for a few days after Igby's death, poor little girl.

Igby's little body was taken to the vet to have a complete necropsy done to determine the cause of death, and get some definitive answers about the mysterious "spotted" illness. Like Kibbits, when she passed, the spots had taken over certain spots of her body

We thought she was getting better as well, so the death felt sudden. Nevertheless, I hope that by having all the tests done, we might be able to document the illness so that her death might help save other littler froggies out there!

We are hoping to find a companion for Quibble soon, but want to get some definitive answers from the vet first about what's been going on.

Thanks again everyone. I'll post as soon as I have some answers!

(Oh, and just a quick word about Quibble: He's active as ever, getting quite plump, and behaving like the rambunctious little frog he should be...oh, and still sleeping upside down on occasion. We are being extra vigilant of course, but so far, no signs of illness, and he finished his precautionary Chytrid treatment tonight.)

Didn't you mention Quibble had spots too or was I mistaken?

I am glad to hear that Quibble is doing well and has taken all his meds. Good froggy! I think you've done everything to make sure he will be safe and healthy and hang like a bat. LOL
Having the necropsy is a really good idea, I wouldn't have thought of it, it will give you some answers, as well as, possibly saving Quibbles life in the event he gets it, which I hope and pray he will not and, like you mentioned, could really spare other frogs and their parents.
Again, I am so sorry for your losses and hope this will be the last for a long time.
