Alright guys. I've been housing my frogs outside on my porch in their plastic tanks for most of the summer. Now it's getting cool and I've moved them indoors. The summer temps were ideal for outdoor housing. Now I want to know the most practical way to provide the required heating regime for cranwelli and ornata indoors? Heat mats? Lamps?
Thanks.
when i had a sizable collection, i simply heated the room with one of those oil filled electric radiators with a small fan blowing through the fins. beats a lot of heat pads, wires, etc and you don't run the risk of frying anybody.
My collection isn't big enough to merit a seperate room, so I'm limited to heating with a pad or light. Any specifics on which type of light to use with cranwelli and ornata?
i just use a pad at the moment, some people have suggested one of those blue lights because it wont dry out the substrate as quickly as the others.
I'm fairly sold on a 'mini-pad' idea at the moment, but have read on the forum that it can be hazardous if the frog borrows down to it and stays put? I like the idea better than lights due to various fixtures and whatnot. I was considering bending the pad in half so a portion is under the tank and on the side.
Additionally the only pad I've seen recomended for plastic tanks is the 'mini' (I forget the specific manufacturer). I have two frogs and have also considered hanging one light over both.
