Thinking about Panther Gecko as a new pet, now comes the questions

Hi all, I had been looking and thinking to add a new addition to my room (Since my buddy is going to give me a 20 gal for my gold fishes, I will have an empty tank once he gives it to me) and the idea of having a Panther Gecko came up. But before I make any decision, I need to have my questions answered...

- What substrate should I use? I have heard horror stories about the reptile carpet, what do you guys think?

- temperature and humidity, how do I maintain?

- are they hard to take care of VS. the Pacman Frog?

- how much do they eat?
