Question Pacific Chorus Frog squirting clear liquid???

I noticed recently that one of my males will perch himself high on his tank and every so often will squirt a stream of clear liquid backwards and hit the glass....im assuming he is pissing...right?... never seen this before on a frog. Just curious.

Yeah its sort of like a boy cat spraying. I don't know if the girls can shoot water out of their butts or not. I've only caught this behavior once before but I do see pee on that same spot often.

Mine do that a lot when I pick them up or they are eating, I thought they were just expelling water from their spericale(?SP) that they took from the atmospere while obsorbing oxygen? Or is this anothere phenomanon I need to watch out for?? Great? I'd love to know!

It's funny, I rarely ever see them in the water, and if i do it;s a quick dip and out when moving around the tank. But i do spray mist them every other day.....it's alot of liquid that shoots out too, like a large tablespoon full.

Yeah, thats exactly what mine do, but I believe I was told that is just the expulsion of water because I don't think they actually pee like we do. It's more like birds that expell their waste together, hence the reason bird poo can be so watery. During the day, as they nap(mine do anyway), they look bigger and puffy/shiney. They are absorbing O2 from the atmosphere, through their skin, as well and H2O from the humidity as well as from "dipping" in the pool. When they want to move around they lighten their load and when they are eating they make room by expelling this water from a tube by their ??left leg. This tube is a sperical, but I'd have to check the articles from the right spelling and info. I know my Gray Tree froglets have this and I have witnessed it and felt it!!!LOL I'm sure it would be explained in the articles on the Pacific Chorus frog. I'll check it too and post the info.

Interesting i didnt know this about frogs.... I keep my frogs moist...not to moist...and you are right...they seem to bloat up when they sit still for hours on the corners....like a sponge i suppose.
