Hi. Im about to build a rain chamber for my red eyes and i need some ideas. Post pictures if you have any.
This is one for Kurt and other tree frog breeders.
Founder of Frogforum.net (2008) and Caudata.org (2001)
what i did is i took an exo-terra cage and took a submegable pump and placed the pump under a false bottem. i covered the false bottem with a mesh like material.the pump is attached to a pvc pipe that goes up the side of the cage where it goes into more pvc pipes with holes drilled in them. the water drips out of the holes in the pipe. i followed Kurts desighn
For my Black Eyed Leaf Frogs I use a high pressure system in the same tank that they live in. It is a 50g and I have one spray nozzle on each end. The mag-drive pump is under the tank in the tank stand. It draws water from the pond in the enclosure through polyethelene tubing down to the pump and then back up through the nozzles. It creates a heavy rain. I run this for 5 hours a night for 5 nights and then leave it off for a month.
I would show you my diagram, but I can't find the disk that it is on at the moment.
Here are some pics of my system so you can visualize it. In the view under the stand, the blue pump on the left of the big filter is the rain pump. The other photos are of the system running. After the eggs hatch and the tads fall into the pond below, I remove them and place them in the tadpole rearing tank....the last photo. Hope this helps.
