I rescued a bullfrog from a pet shop about a month ago, and he passed away this morning.
Sorry to hear about that. At least in the past few weeks, he received the proper care with you. Still, always hard to lose a pet.
Sorry about your frog.
That sucks.
I'm with Jo though, I'd rather see it happen when being cared for and loved than in a random tank at a pet store someplace. I'm sorry for your loss.
do you think some pet shops might keep their animals in squalid conditions knowing people will buy the animal just to "rescue" it? it once occurred to me to buy a pacman frog the owner had in stinking brown water the frog could not get out of(no land area). i passed, but was very sad for that frog.
That is certainly possible and I'm sure it happens.
I know that the Petco in my community has superb conditions and all the enclosures have furniture and are setup better than some people have at home. And the employee that takes care of them is knowledgable and does a great job.
I'm so sorry to hear that.
I guess it might happen, but truthfully, I think most of the time it's laziness or ignorance. At my pet store, animals don't really stay very long in the store; they get sold pretty quick. Frogs may last a few weeks, but usually someone buys them.
So sorry.
