Default What is the difference between Pixie and Pacman frog?

Hi yall, I had Pacatron for roughly 2 months now and I absolutely loved the little guy!! My gf and I both are thinking of getting ourselves a second frog (the albino on craigslist was a goner ), I have the opportunity of coming across a pixie frog in the same store that I got Pacatron. Now the questions are:

    - Are there any differences between taking care of a Pacman VS. taking care of a Pixie?
    - Are there any differences in characteristics? sizes? food intake?
    - Should I settle with a pixie frog or look for another Pacman? (My gf loves to have a green one, but I have been told that the green more likely will not stay on, is there any breed out there that can defeat that myth?)

    thanks for your help ~~

Loved? Past tense, did pacatron die?

As far as keeping the green/colors, I have read go for an ornate. I got one last week and its awesome. It actually eats in front of me! lol. I have been tossing around the idea of getting a pixie...actually I just got this text from my gf to "order the damn frog john"

All I know about pixies. The males get huge. They advise a 15 galon tank for a single male. Did I mention theyre huge? Ordering one now.

There are many differences between the two species, I don't even know where start. lol
Though they can be kept similarly. There's a brief care sheet on this link that covers both species.

Most all Cranwell's lose their green color with age. Samurai Reptiles produce pacmans that are guaranteed to hold their color, they are pricey though. Of the commonly available pacmans the Ornate horned frog tend to hold their baby colors into adulthood.

@ Kevin: Yea, I heard that they are pricey too, so I guess I can tell my gf that she can't have a green pacman because no matter what, they color will wear off.....

man... i'm still torn between the Pacman frog from reptile samurai or a pixie frog... I just don't want to spend $50 on a Pacman without knowing the condition after its being ship... pixie is good, but how big will they go?

Pyxies can get to 9-10 inches, bigger ones have been known. You can expect a male to grow to 7-8 inches. Most males I've seen are between 6 1/2 and 9 inches.
