Thread: Hello from my dorm!

    Default Hello from my dorm!

Hi all, my name is Erin and I am a Freshman at a small University in southern Maine. I am very interested in getting a dorm pet as we are allowed any entirely aquatic animals in tanks up to 20 gallons. At first I was looking into Axolotls, they are very cool and not too hard to keep. Unfortunately they are not easy for me to find and getting them shipped to me was going to be a bit more expensive than I was ready for so I started to loose hope, I really didn't want to get fish. Then I noticed African Clawed Frogs, they are a great size and their requirments seem up my alley. So I've come here to get more info on how to care for these guys before I get them.

I also have a dog named Tucker (well he's more my parents, they got him two weeks before I went to school, but I love him). He is a Chihuahua mix.
I have two Siamese cats named Neko and Willie, they are 6 and 4 years old respectively.
I have 1 Leopard gecko named Tammy, she is 6 years old.
and I have 6 Hermit crabs named Titan, Ophelia, Aphrodite, Rhea, Hermes, and one with no name since I haven't been able to sex him yet. I have had the first thre for a little over 2 years and the last three for a few months.

Thanks for letting me join your community, I look forward to talking with you all!

Welcome to the Forum, Erin. I remember having fish when I was in college and how boring that seemed. I then graduated (so to speak) to dwarf aquatic frogs and the rest they say is history!! Hope you find lots of useful information here and we can't wait to see your new friend when you get him or her.
