    How'dy all
I've always wanted to have frogs, and I just got 2 Whistling Tree Frogs a few days ago . I am a novice to frogs, although I've read as much as I can about them...so if anyone on here has experience with Whistling Tree Frogs, I'd love to hear from you...or if anyone wants to give me suggestions, feel free . Thanks in advance.

Hi there Jess and welcome to the forum.

I am happy to help with any questions. I keep Whistlers and have been successful in breeding them.

Thanks Ebony . I'm just curious...I've read that Whistlers need more land than water...eg, they don't need a half water half land tank. Right now I just have a small shallow bowl for them...I just want to make sure it's all good.
They're also living on a base of stones with LOTS of spaghnum moss on top....I've been spritzing them everyday with spring water (also what's in their bowl)...or more if it's seeming dry. They have lots of plants to climb and bits of driftwood to hide under, and they have lots of room.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted and implimented .

Jess..that's all sounds good to me. A water bowl is all they need unless you are breeding them. I just use tap water with the water conditioner in it. These frogs dont generally spend much time near the water unless breeding. Your set up sounds fine to me. A photo would be good also. What plants and wood are you using in your enclosure? There is a Whistler care article that will be put up here very soon.

There are plants I shouldn't use with them :S? I don't know what they're called, I got them out of my yard...I did give them a VERY good clean before I put them in though. The rest that I planted in there are ferns...normal ferns and a birdsnest fern. Here's a pic anyway...

And here's a pic of one of the boys (I was told they're both boys)...

I try to stick with natives..so the ferns should be good. Im not sure about the other plant you have. Your set up looks fine to me..just ensure you have easy access in and out of the water bowl and change the water daily. Any woods you have in your enclosure should be sterilized also (boil/bake) . I use mango wood mainly.

Thanks, I'll stick with natives from now on, and make sure I boil and bake the woods. Also, I have a lemon tree...would that be ok? As foliage, and/or wood?

Oh yes, I think Riccarton was one of the lucky areas. I hope your cats have settled. My cats are still a bit nervous. We have a 50 cm zig zag crack on one wall and cracks in our drive. We had a lot of breakage's but nothing that cant be replaced. We are lucky.

Its all good...I just think of the people who dont have homes.

Here is a photo of the mango wood I was telling you about..not the best photo but gives you an idea. I like the twisted look and the natural colour. They come about a metre long. I just cut them to the size I want. Its usually pot luck with what you get but Ive been very happy.
