Oh, and to clear up any confusion, since I have a unisex name, I'm female. :P
Hello!
About 3 weeks ago I was at my best friend's house, and they were doing some outdoor cleaning in preparation for their 2 year old's birthday party. They were pressure washing the house when a little frog fell out from behind a shutter. I caught it so I could show it to the 2 year old, and on a whim, I decided to take him home and keep him (the frog, not the child :P ).
I'd had an aquarium and everything to go with it sitting and collecting dust since my failed attempt at keeping fish when I first moved away from home 9 years ago.
I set the aquarium up, put about 2 inches of water in it, some large rocks for land areas, the driftwood branches we used for our anoles from when I was a kid, and the tetra whisper filter I had for my fish.
I NEVER thought I'd take to this frog like I have. I've had a blast observing him and studying his habits. After googling my little heart out, I'm almost certain he's a juvenile gray tree frog. And really I have no clue if he's really a he, it just feels natural to call him that.
Anyway, since I've grown so attached to him in the three weeks I've had him, I have been doing a lot of reading trying to give him the best home and nutrition possible. I've discovered that I don't need this much water, so after I clean his tank tonight, I'm going to be turning it into a half and half. I've been trying to figure out if the filter is actually needed, but I do think I'm going to keep it in there. He plays in it every night sometimes sits under the waterfall (I have a large rock under the waterfall so it's not just splashing into the water making a lot of noise . . . the tank is in my bedroom, afterall) and lets it splash all over him.
Anyway, I'm rambling, and I thought I had some questions to ask in this thread, but I seem to be answering them for myself as I go.
If anyone has any tips for me, or can direct me to threads that will be helpful, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi Corry...Most everyone here on this forum started out just like you. You get one frog and you realize just how cool they are. Then you'll want to get him a girlfriend. Then while on the forum you'll see other peoples terrariums and you'll make yours more elaborate for your little guys. Then you go to a reptile store to pick up some crickets and you'll notice another species of frog that you just have to have. The next thing you know you'll have a frog room and you'll be joining in on the thread, "how to tell if you're addicted to frog forum". Welcome to the forum..glad to have you here and post some pics when you get a chance. Check out the care article to the left on your frog and feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Well, as an amateur photographer, I'm ashamed to admit that so far, all I have are poor quality, through the glass cellphone pics of him. I'll post a few, anyway, and maybe you guys can tell me if I'm wrong in my 'juvenile gray tree frog' identification.
i think you got it right. here's "mine":
Frog Forum - tadpole's Album: grey tree frog outside on my tree
he sticks on my finger, seems very tame. i find him usually in my bbq grill, i think he's attracted to the flies that go there for the grease. (i have to check it real good before i light it) he also was between some folds of plastic on my greenhouse once. i put him on the tree for a photo, next day he was right back in the grill. i leave him outside, he knows his territory.
