It could be a number of things. First off if you were gaging the temp by just looking at your house thermostat then that probably means you do not have a tank temperature and humidity gauge and it would be a good idea to purchase. if the humidity levels fluctuate a lot, that can cause several different behavioral changes in frogs. If you heard a clicking sound when the frogs mouth was open, it could be a respiratory infection in which case a vet should be seen.

Thank you for you advice. I will take him to see an exotics specialists. By the way, if heat is needed for a frog, how is that provided. I'm familiar with heating methods for reptiles, but not amphibians.

Pick your country on your profile real quick. If we know where you are everyone can help you better. I dont own any reptiles, but I do know undertank heating can dry out substrates real quick. You might try putting the heat mat on the side of the tank. There are bulbs that provide heat for frogs as well, some with uva and uvb spectrums, it all depends on the needs of your specific frog.

I recently became the owner of two adult Green treefrogs myself. I am using a heat lamp, placed up and off to one side of the tank to create a warmer area while the rest of the tank is kept at room temperature. One of the frogs seems to have figured out where to sit during the day; as well, the crickets I put in there last night have collected close to the heat source as well. Might make feeding time easier for them!! Best of luck with your frog.
