Aren't tree frogs supposed to be up high??

I got to adult Green treefrogs yesterday and set them up in a 10 gallon aquarium. Though it is not vertical, there is still a fair amount of height, and I put in lots of silk plants, baked wood from a local lake, a large water dish, a layer of moss for humidity and a heat lamp set over the middle of the tank as our house is getting rather cool now that it is fall. On a good news, we are pretty certain that we heard calling, confirming suspicions that one is a boy. However, when I got up this morning, both frogs had buried themselves into the moss. I had misted heavily last night in the hopes one would sing, so I can't see humidity being a problem. I did shut the lamp off-could they have been cold? Obviously I am not meeting one of their requirements, but I can figure out what. Any ideas? Below is several pics of their setup.

What is the temperature? Personally, I'd give it a few more days. My gray treefrog burrowed the first night, and I know there was a lot of humidity in the tank. But that was the only night he did it. Now that I think about it, I think one of my White's did that as well.

Thanks, Elaine. The temperature is hovering between 25-30 degrees Celcius. I moved the heat lamp up a bit as most care sheets I have read said a max temp of 25 degrees. They are pretty stressed, and us freaking them out a couple of times since they have been here probably hasn't helped. I will just let them be and hope that they settle in and get climbing soon. They were pretty active last night, so I was planning on tossing some crickets in with them tonight.

They are stressed and scared. Give them a few nights to wander around and get used to the new home. They will find some comfy spots to hang out in soon.

You're right, Paul-a few days with no disturbance and some light mistings and they should begin to realize that I'm of no threat. They were in a small show container at the petstore for a year, so this is a huge upheaval for them.

Thanks Charlamanda! They are pretty cool-and a lot bigger than I was expecting them to be! One I am pretty sure is a boy after hearing some singing last night. His name is Elton. The other one, which I think is a girl, will be named Aroha.

Thank you Lesley! I am a sucker for frogs that have been in petstores too long. Unfortunately, most people are looking for bright, cute, active animals and these guys are full grown, currently brown in colour, and only active at night. I still think they are gorgeous and I hope I can provide them with a good home. Elton has a beautiful call, though JimO is right-loud! I think Yoki was a bit put out that another male is in his living room. Lol!

I think you would do amazing with a White's! I don't see too many of them where I am, so I love seeing photos of them from other members. And I have a feeling there is one out there that knows it's home is with you and is just waiting ever-so-patiently...

I couldn't just get one!!! I would HAVE to have 2 or 3, right?!?!?! right?!?! (say yes)

One would be too lonely, he would need playmates. I would like a mix of White's and blue phase.....I'm keeping my eye out for some. But I would love to look at a show, but none seem to come to my area...

Thanks Paul. I am rather obsessive about names-each frog or toad has to have just the right one. I can spend hours trying to decide. But yeah, these two are special and deserved special names.
