A couple weeks ago one of my firebellys died. I bought a new one last week and he is full of energy. A couple days ago he had escaped from my aquarium. I cleaned him off and put him back in it. The next day when I got home he was out again. I have 20 gallon long tank that has a wire screen top to it. There are no holes on the screen. I have no idea how he is getting out. I've even put a gallon of water on top of the cover and he still gets out. Has anybody had the same problem as me?
I frequently had escapees but I have been lcuky as of late. I cut a piece of mesh bigger than the tank or canapy (about 2" of overhang on all sides) and placed it under the canopy. It is not the most attractive, but I haven't had any escapees since then. I rather have it look slightly odd than find one of my toads tried up. Covered in cat and dog hair was insult enought i think!!![]()

Had a few escaping through the corner of the screen top.
