I am trying to identify a gecko. I'm not sure if anyone would be able to help, because I don't have a picture. Today at work, I caught a gecko near the front door. It's one we don't sell, but I think it is probably bred for sale.
It has spots and "bumps" like a leopard gecko, and is a tanish color with a slightly darker tail. But it's body is fatter than a leopard, and the tail is short and fatter and more smooth. It's eyes are a more vibrant color too, and speckled brown. There is light blue in the skin right above the eyes like a leopard gecko. The gecko's feet are made for climbing, and it was climbing a wall when I caught it.
Hmm, without a pic it's kind of hard to say...maybe a crested gecko??
Yeah, I know. I was working at the time so didn't have my cell, and then after work I didn't think about it.
It's definitely not a crested gecko. It looks similar to a Mediterranean Gecko (at least the pics I've seen) but the tail is different.
Most likely a house gecko, Hemidactylus frenatus. There are introduced populations of them in a few spots in US.

Doesn't look like any house gecko I've seen.
Pix plz![]()
