    Default White spot on acf?

Hi, i'm new to this forum so this is my first post. I was wondering if anyone could help.. I've had 2 albino clawed frogs in a tank for a few months now and one of them has developed a large white spot at the bottom of its back. It's not just a marking on it, its like an actual spot. I've been trying to get a picture but the frog just keeps hiding, if i have any luck i'll post it up. I'm worried as it doesnt look normal at all. Thanks

    Hi Gillian:

For the most part, African clawed frogs have a natural immunity to many diseases. Unfortunately, these frogs still get sick. Probably the best advice I can give you is to have your frog checked out by a vet. It could be a bacterial, fungal infection or both. The treatments would be quite different. Watch the frog for the next few days - if the white spot still persists along with unusual behavior, then you need to determine the cause.

None of the vets in my area deal with animals other than cats, dogs, rabbits etc. And all the aquatic places don't really know much about what their selling so their not very useful either. I'll try again tomorrow to get a picture and see if anyone recognises what it could be. Thanks for your reply.

If it is a fungail virus your frog will have what looks like a layer of skin that will start to shed off of them. I raised 2 ACF for 3 years had one got a fungal virus. A week later it passed.

The spot has now gone away, it has left a scar but the frog seems fine. Thanks for your reply though.

I’m happy to ”hear” that your frog is okay now.

You know, never mind the scar, we all have ;-)

Nice news – Irene is right you know.
Never mind the scar, the only thing that matters is that he is feeling fine.
