    Default Scaphiopus couchii

    Hi

I was waiting until today to introduce this specie, because I was going to buy 2 more specimens today (and I bought them ).

I originaly ordered two of them with my local reptile/amphibian store (whose owner and employers are my friends) to a spanish store. They bought two for themselves too.
Unfortunately one of mine didn't make it, so today I picked the other two that were still on the store.

I really like this guys, they're amazing!

    My older one (really fat)

And all of them (it's easy to see which one is my older one, he's the fattest)

Dispite one them being bloated (defensive behavior) the truth is that both of the new ones are quite skinny, but they're no better than my older one when he arrived, so I believe I can on their recovery.

Their enclosure (really simple, because they just want free space to bury)

    Enjoy

Oh, btw, I've been doing research because I'm not quite sure if they are what I really ordered.

I ordered S. couchii, so I treat them like that, but I'm quite suspicious that they are S. holbrooki.

ps: I'm really happy with this order anyway.. I was just hoping they were green

They are all gorgeous! What is the difference between the two if they are different than what you ordered? Your chubby older one looks very content. Do they small like that, or will they get bigger?

Their adult size is between 2 and 3,5 inches... My older one is a little bigger than 2 inches now, so I would say they'll stay more or less like this.

Couchii's use to be green or light brown with some marks (different than the ones mine have). Holbrooki seem just like mine LOL
If you do a research on google you'll see what I'm talking about.

thats a couch's spadefoot. Very nice looking! Toads are my favorite amphibians. I prefer the b.americanus and b.bufo though I cant find the bufo bufo for sale. :P Oh well. I love their brown skin and sometimes black spots and red eyes(I saw some pictures a while ago). I think yours may be the other one. Since I looked them up and you were right they're supposed to be green. Like a light olive green with tan on bottom. Though I kept looking pictures up and some of them looked like your toads. So you may have s.couchii.
Edit: I saw the holbrooki yours look more like them. Because the yellow blotches are in lines. As for the s.couchii is either slight green(I saw two pictures on google like that)and dark brown or light tan brown blotches with a dark brown body. :P they're nice looking whatever they are.

Exactly, holbrooki's pattern is much more like mine's.
