    Question Mixing Frogs and Salamanders

would it be ok to mix black eyed leaf frogs with some type of aboreal salamander from the same range considering that the frog is to small to eat the salamander?

I'm really not an apologist of mixing species.. "Everything's well until someday..."

Many people don't like feeding crikects to dart frogs because they can escape, turn adults and then bite the frogs... imagine what a salamnder can do to a frog, or the opposite. The frog can think that the salamanders tail is a worm... And then accidents happen, even the weirdest ones so except for rare cases, it's always better to don't mix xspecies.

ps: I've heard about cases of different species attacking each others aftermore than 5 years together

Most of us here on the Forum agree: don't mix species. Mother Nature has a gift for mixing and a whole planet to work with; a terriarium of any size is still a glass box with an imitation ecosystem inside.

I know of no one who has been successful in keeping arboreal salamanders as pets. They invariably die quickly in captivity after being in the pet trade. Even if you could manage to keep one/some alive, I would not mix them with anything else.

I was volunteering at a pet store yesterday...when it came time to clean out the fire belly toad and fire belly salamander tank I found them all dead. I used that opportunity to explain to the owner about NOT mixing species. Unfortunately I had a bunch of dead animals to back me up.
