Leave him sleeping, or wake him up?

Im really curious on what to do with the male i got. When i first got him he was sleeping. I decided to just let him sit in tupperware full of warm water and he woke up. When i put him back on CoCo Fiber he burrowed a bit and closed his eyes and wrapped a layer around himself again.

My room is pretty hot and dry right now because its the end of August. I spray him twice but it dries up quick. Should i just wait till it cools down a bit to wake him up?

Also he croaks at night and it sounds like a cow!!! And my Female has been croaking and laying her hind legs out. Could this be a sign? Thanks for any insight and help guys.

Sounds like your coconut fiber is way too dry. It needs to be at like 70-80%. If the humidity gets this high, the frog won't try to aestavate. Ps. I don't think female pyxies croak.

TJ is right. If the frog wants to aestavate, it is too dry. What type of cover do you have? I use a sheet of plexiglass with about 25 - 1/4 to 3/8 holes drilled in it. This helps hold the moisture in.

Female croaking? Sure it isn't a immature male.

Ya i figured it was too dry.. I think i need to buy that plexiglass cover because this screen isnt keeping the humidity in.

Well the big male makes a cow croak and the little one is like a ribbit croak. I dont think its a male because the smaller one is 2 years old and only like 4 inches. Im pretty confused about the croaking and calling.

If you are looking for a less expensive option for keeping in humidity, you can always wrap your screen cover in plastic wrap (the stuff you use in the kitchen to wrap up food). I did that to the top of my 55 gallon and it works great. You can regulate the humidity by leaving the top cracked open by varying amounts until you get it right. Just a thought.

The only problem with plastic wrap is that it can melt onto the screen lid. Plexi is the best way to go, but I use a real cheap thin plastic sheet that I bought at home depot for like $5 that works really well. And does your female make sounds when she is alone in her tank, or when you pick her up?
