Hi guys,
I keep seeing posts about the "glass bowl trick" but I actually can't find any information on what the trick actually is, how to do it or why to do it. I'm sure its listed somewhere but I can't find it.
Can someone please shed some light on what it is, how to do it and why to do it? Would it be beneficial to do for my baby red eyed tree frogs?
Crickets can't climb glass. So if you put them in a little bowl a couple of inches deep then put this in your vivarium the frogs should learn to eat from the bowl and you don't have to worry about crickets wandering into crevices and dying. Alternatively you can free feed and put the glass bowl in the vivarium as a 'trap' for any crickets that don't get eaten- they fall in but can't get out. You can read more about it (and some pictures of suitable bowls):

I don't bother with it myself but many people swear by their bowls.
Thanks so much! I knew there was probably a post but I couldn't find it, I only found posts from people talking about using it. Thanks again![]()
I still keep using glass bowl so far. It's quite useful.

I use this! I wouldn't suggest an actual, clear glass bowl just in case the frogs try to get at the bugs through the walls of the bowl.
