    Default Tiny toad??

I have two gulf coast toads that are within a few months of age. One is over two inches and healthy, but the other just got to one inch. Am I misidentifying the small one? Small toad was born with one eye. Is it possible that it’s a genetic thing? I’ll post a pic of them.

    Hi!

I don't think you've misidentified them. Maybe the larger one is a female or the smaller one may be suffering from an illness or deficiency? How is the smaller toad's appetitie? I would say that if he is eating well, acting normal, defacating regularly... then maybe nothing to worry about. I wish I knew more about the species to be helpful. Hopefully another member will be able to give you more information! I have 2 American toads... Speckles and Shima. At first, Speckles was much larger than Shima but over the last few months, Shima has grown to be 3xs the size of Speckles and I have been able to identify that she is female, which grow much larger than the males. Perhaps this is the same in your case? Good luck!

The larger one is definitely a male - he has a blue “beard”, squeaks occasionally and has nuptial pads. Small toad’s appetite, activity, and defecation are normal and no signs of MBD. Maybe he’s just a smol bean American toads are awesome by the way Thanks!

Yes... maybe he's just the runt of the litter... so to speak. As long as he's eating & acting normal, I wouldn't worry! They are adorable though! The pic of the smaller one sitting on top of the larger one is just toooo cute!!
