Default Does Fred Look Overweight? Concerned Dad Here.

Hi guys, I noticed when pulling Fred out for his bath today that he looks... huge. He's been growing pretty consistently since I brought him home over a year ago but this is definitely the widest he's ever been.

I feed him a staple diet of hornworms and dubia roaches, supplemented by a fuzzy mouse or hopper once per month. Maybe I should cut back on the feedings?

Any feedback would be appreciated. I want as much time as possible with him so I don't want to risk any health issues.

    Thank you!

He looks a bit overweight. You may want to cut back on the feedings a bit. How often do you feed him?

Thanks for your response! As it turned out I started to see blood in Fred's urine not too long after I took these photos, so I took him to the vet immediately and it turns out that he has a bladder infection and was swollen with water. All that extra size wasn't weight from food at all. He's looking better now after a couple days on antibiotics and a lot of the swelling has gone down, though he's still puffy towards his back end. Hoping for a full recovery for him soon. I hope no one else has gone through anything like this, it's been really stressful and I was terrified I might lose him. Thankfully he's been a brave boy and is looking happier already.

Poor lil guy! I'm glad you got him to the vet in time.
