    Default Poe and Finn update.

It's been a while since I posted some photos of Poe (American Bullfrog) and Finn (Southern (?) Leopard frog). They have both increased in size, however I am still concerned that they are a bit on the skinny side. I do know they are eating (poop in the water dishes) but maybe they are not getting enough? Would like to hear what others think of their size. Poe is on the left and Finn is on the right.

They both look great Jo. Finn will always be more streamlined than Poe, Leopard Frogs are athletes and Bullfrogs are couch potatoes.

I'm used to the couch potatoes!! Lol. I expect Finn to be slimmer, but I guess I want a bit of a potbelly on him still. I feed them at night, so I rarely see them hunting, but there are seldom left over crickets and lots of floaties in the water-bleh. Okay, I will keep doing what I am doing then. I've toned down the worrying a bit, though, you have to admit!!

Thanks, Ebony-that means a lot to me! I am just happy they are growing and seem to be healthy, though both of them spazzed out when I tried to take their pictures. But they are my spazzes and they fit right in with the rest of the household!!

For what it's worth, Finn looks to be about the same shape/plumpness as the many hundreds of young leopard frogs I've ushered out of the lawnmowers path this summer. So he looks healthy to me and much safer than my local population, so bravo!

I've no experience whatsoever with bullfrogs, but I will say Poe has a big head.

Thanks, Brian. I am not used to having sleek, active frogs around, so his slimness is throwing me off a bit.

Poe does have a big head, doesn't he?? I'm hoping the rest of him will catch up eventually otherwise the other frogs and toads might make fun of him.....lol!

I wouldn't worry too much about that, he's going to be the biggest kid on the block soon!

Yeah, then he can swallow the bullies!! Oh oh, better not give Poe any ideas. Hard to believe he's going to get big when he is only 2" now. However, crickets already run in fear, so he is working on his reputation already!!

If you want to put on some weight, feed them waxworms.

Would butterworms work too? Ooh, those might be too big....

Thanks, and yes, all my pets are spoiled! I've tried to relax a bit, but these guys are my first froglets so I am bordering on paranoid. Luckily, I get talked down lots and I've really enjoyed them-I have a few more grey hairs, but hey, I also have a teenager, so the grey hair was coming anyway!!

Sorry, don't know much about butterworms.

I've only used butterworms a couple of times for my African Bullfrogs, and that was 2 years ago. From what I remember of them, they are a pretty plump little larva, silken and squishy....Poe might be able to handle the size, but Finn has a small mouth-I don't want him to choke.
