Gray tree frog question

as for your question. KP gave you a great advice. Overall i think the frog is just fine, slowing down is normal at that time of the year. Although it natural for frogs to go through the cycles in a wild, you should never attempt to do it in captivity. Advanced keepers is a different story, but even they wouldnt do it unless there is a choice.

You're quite welcome Np.
It's good to receive a variety of approaches to any problem that has no absolutely singular resolution.
When you receive the benefits of several people's experience you can see that people have had success with solving your particular problems through different methods and you can decide for yourself which methods or combination of methods are most practical for you to try.
Some problems do have only one remedy and on this forum you can also find those.
Keep coming back whenever you need the community of experienced Frog/Toad caretakers to make suggestions and I'm sure you'll find good info all around.

Hi just wanted to post an update on the grey tree frog. I think I may have inadvertently done something that snapped him out of his slow spell. Things carried on for roughly a month with him not eating and only occasionally making a trip to his dish. It has gotten much colder here so with the forced air on most of the time now humidity levels have been very difficult to maintain in the tank, especially with his heat lamp on. I tried (not successfully) to make a DIY Dripper (bottle with pin holes) that ended up dripping way too fast. About 10 seconds into the virtual rain storm he began croaking and continued for a few minutes. The next morning he was out on top of his hide and took three crickets by tong. Prior to this he would completely ignore or back away from this method of feeding and would not go after any free roaming crickets when they approached him. It has been a few days now and he has taken 2-3 crickets per day since then and has been out and about at night. Hopefully this continues. Thanks again!

Hi just wanted to give an update on the frog. I think I may have inadvertently done something that brought him out of his winter slow-down. The weather has gotten colder here so with the forced air heat running constantly it has become a challenge keeping the humidity levels up in his tank (especially during the day with the heat and uvb bulbs on). I tried to combat this by making a drip system out of a water bottle with pin holes that let out more water than I had intended. Anyways, about ten seconds into the virtual rain storm created by the bottle he began vocalizing and did so for a couple minutes off and on. The following morning he was out on top of his hide with his eyes open and had made a mess of his water dish. He then took three crickets from a set of tongs. Prior to this he hadn’t shown any interest in food for about a month. He has eaten every day now for the past few days and has been out regularly at night and in the morning. Hopefully this continues. Thanks again for all of the help!

Just a quick update. He has resumed his normal activity and is feeding regularly again. I made a botched diy dripper that I think snapped him out of it. As soon as it began dripping like crazy he started singing and was out of his hide the next morning. Must have sounded like spring rain or something. Glad that I didn’t let the temps drop on him over winter. Thanks again for the advice everyone!
