Unfortunately, when I walked in my room this morning I could tell something wasn't right with my fire belly. He was sitting there next to a semi-submerged mopani wood log all bloated and with cloudy eyes. I took a water sample immediately and then removed him. I've had him for only a year so I highly doubt old age got him, so my best guesses are chemical poisoning or drowning. Chemical poisoning because he's only been in this tank for 2 weeks as I just built it for him. It's a bioactive paludarium, built with GreatStuff foam, silicone, eco earth, plantation soil, slate rocks, and sand. Maybe something in the silicone? Drowning because I kept seeing him at the same spot in the corner of the tank by the log in the last few days, but before he was fully capable of navigating and maneuvering around the tank. Maybe another cause is the light? Before I built this tank he didn't have a light at all, but I bought a low wattage LED light from Home Depot to help grow the plants. Also, to help the aquatic plants, I put Seachem Flourish in the tank, but that's definitely pet safe so I'm lost. Also, I doubt chemical poisoning because there is another frog (northern green frog) in the tank with him who is still fine. Thank you!
